I Am (Cut From Another Cloth)

I am not a statue
set in stone
left to wear
at the touch
of unfamiliar
hands searching
for a bit of luck

I am not a sonnet
of thirteen
perfect lines
holding lovers
only to be left
forgotten between
two dusty covers

About the author: Hannah is a nineteen year old student from Columbus Ohio who is planning to major in creative writing at Ohio University. This piece is her first published work, and the first poem she ever read to a room full of strangers at an open mic. Her passion for poetry began with an armful of library books and a deep desire to put her heart to paper. She hopes to inspire the readers of her work to do the same.
