Asma Al-Masyabi

If You Still the World

If you still the world
To your convenience,
Pause time
And become conscious
Of your breath
And the breaths of others,

The rhythmic thudding
Of diverse hearts
That match,
Somehow,
Your own,

If you freeze the moment,
To hear the whispers
Of intimate souls,
You find the humanity
Among the hostility,

And the love
Amid the hate.
